Updates from 2021
River of Hope 2021 - St James' Church art installation
In the days leading up to COP26, the United Nations conference on the Climate Crisis, Christian Aid have suggested a prayerful initiative, River of Hope, to encourage us to think about the decisions to be made by delegates to that meeting.
At St James’s Church we have set up our River of Hope, a “river” running from the baptismal font through the nave and out of the Transept door. The river has stones and plants beside it and a range of paper boats, some carrying our prayers, and symbolising the journey of hope we take as we pray about the effects of climate change - the storms and floods, the wild fires and the movement of peoples (sometimes in boats) trying to find places of safety from the effects of weather and conflict.
Join us in praying for COP26 and the outcomes for our planet and peoples.

Rev Sam Lochead from Corbridge devised and led the service, he compasionately brought us all to thinking about our planet on this special day of reflection.
The morning was a delight to share and thanks to all who made it so.
